Anne Hathaway has been a constant presence on South Korean screens from spring through fall 2026, demonstrating her star power and acting range. After April’s 〈The Devil Wears Prada 2〉, August’s blockbuster 〈The Odyssey〉 and the recently released 〈Verity〉, she will cap her year at the movies with A24’s 〈Mother Mary〉 (directed by David Lowery), opening November 11. Plus M Entertainment and Waterhole Company Co., Ltd. handled the film’s importation, while TEO and Waterhole Company Co., Ltd. are handling distribution.
Hathaway has captivated South Korean audiences this year with a succession of high-profile films. She made a welcome return in April with 〈The Devil Wears Prada 2〉. In August, she played Penelope, Odysseus’ wife, in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster 〈The Odyssey〉, bringing depth and gravitas to the film. Then, in 〈Verity〉, the thriller based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel that opened on the 22nd, she drew praise for the chilling suspense of her performance as Verity, a mysterious writer who stopped writing after an accident.
For 〈Mother Mary〉, the final stop in her 2026 theatrical run, Hathaway transforms into a global pop icon. The pop-music thriller follows pop star ‘Mother Mary’ (Hathaway) over three scarcely believable days as she seeks out ‘Sam’ (Michaela Coel), an old friend and gifted designer from whom she has long been estranged, for the one outfit she needs to complete her look ahead of a comeback performance watched by the world. The film promises a richly layered portrayal of the wounds beneath a spotlighted superstar’s glamour and the tangled love and resentment between the two women.
Anticipation is also building around director David Lowery’s striking visual style, music by internationally acclaimed musicians Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX and FKA twigs, and the addition of Hunter Schafer to the cast.
Audiences can see Hathaway’s explosive energy across genres and characters when 〈Mother Mary〉 opens in theaters nationwide on November 11.
