Krafton Unveils Kiff, a K-Pop AI Chat App With Unlimited Chats for 3,900 Won a Month

FIFTY FIFTY’s official character WENY joins the app; users 14 and older get a limited number of free chats each day

A new paradigm in fandom culture, powered by AI

Krafton has officially launched Kiff, a K-pop character chat service powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The launch marks a full-scale expansion of the company’s AI business beyond the gaming industry and into entertainment. Unveiled on the 2nd, Kiff is a new kind of fan platform designed to let users connect more deeply with personas created by the artists themselves.

The service stands out for its sophisticated interactions, which go beyond a simple chatbot. Characters remember users’ preferences and the context of past conversations, naturally incorporating them into future chats, and sometimes take the initiative by asking how users are doing. Users can chat naturally about the artists’ latest news, and the app also offers a distinctive feature that summarizes a day’s conversations in the form of an illustrated diary.

There are two ways to interact: text-based chat mode and character mode, designed for a more immersive visual experience. In character mode, real-time responsive animation makes interactions feel more lifelike: when a user says, “Hi!” the character on screen waves back.

A global growth strategy taking shape with FIFTY FIFTY

The service’s first collaboration partner is FIFTY FIFTY, a girl group under ATTRAKT. The group’s participation, backed by its global fan base, is expected to give the service a strong boost in building early awareness. The app’s official character, WENY, reflects the group’s distinct identity, with members directly involved in everything from defining the character’s initial persona to designing its appearance in detail.

The service is also designed to be accessible and convenient. Anyone aged 14 or older can download the Korean-language app on iOS or Android. Kiff uses a freemium model: users get a limited number of free chats each day, while a monthly subscription costing 3,900 won gives them unlimited chats.

“The core of this service is our foundational AI technology, developed over many years to help virtual characters in games communicate naturally with real users,” said Park Jae-min, head of Krafton’s AI Frontier Division. “It will be an innovative channel for communication, allowing fans to step deeper into the world of their favorite artists.” He added that the company aims to use the launch as a springboard to bring more artists on board and expand its AI ecosystem into global markets.
