Jazz Saxophonist Yoosun Nam Releases First Album in Five Years, The Moments of Life; All Eight Tracks to Be Performed Live

The interplay of a 'jazz quartet' and strings… An original ensemble telling eight musical stories

Yoosun Nam, one of the leading performers in Korea's jazz scene, has broken her hiatus with a new studio album that captures a deeper musical rapport.

According to concert promoter Jazz Bridge Company, jazz saxophonist Yoosun Nam officially released her fourth studio album, 'The Moments of Life,' on the 27th of last month. It is her first studio album in five years.

Nam previously earned recognition from critics and music fans for her outstanding composition and improvisational skills, with her second and third albums consecutively nominated for Best Jazz Album at the 'Korean Music Awards.'

The new album explores diverse emotional moments encountered in everyday life through eight musical themes. Nam composed every track and performs saxophone throughout, building a distinctive artistic vision and lyrical sensibility.

A concert celebrating the album's release is also planned. Nam will hold a solo release concert on the 4th of next month at Belloju in Hongdae, Seoul, where she is set to perform all eight tracks from the album live for the first time.

The concert will feature an original lineup that organically combines a 'jazz quartet,' bringing the energy of rhythm and improvisation to life, with a 'string quartet' adding lyrical melodies.

A representative of organizer Jazz Bridge Company said, "The concert combines the dynamic sound of a jazz quartet with the rich, elegant melodies of a string quartet," adding, "It will offer a meaningful and moving experience for audiences looking to discover a distinctive contemporary jazz ensemble with an uncommon lineup."
