The birth of an 'old-school romantic': A genre-defying musical journey

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist 'aron!' released his debut album, 'Too Close For Running', on the 18th. It marks his official debut through Verve Records, the globally renowned jazz label under Universal Music. The album signals a new wave in an increasingly formulaic modern pop landscape, blending the language of traditional jazz with a polished pop sensibility.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he has an unusual musical foundation. Influenced by his parents as a child, he grew up absorbing the music of rock icons including Pearl Jam and Led Zeppelin. He picked up the guitar at a neighborhood music school at age 8, then built a strong foundation studying classical composition at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. His talent fully blossomed after he entered the University of Miami on a full scholarship, where he immersed himself in jazz vocals and film music.

Tracks released in advance this year showcase his broad musical range. 'Shiny Stockings,' which explores the enduring nature of love, and the jazz-pop track 'Wonderful Thing,' which depicts the inescapable trap of love, have captured the ears of both critics and the public.

'aron!' says, "I've always identified with old-school romantics," and sings about universal emotions that transcend time. "People go through the same things, whether then or now. The pain of a breakup and the joy of love are no different," he said. "We are all the same kind of human, and most of my songs are about those universal stories of life." His philosophy of forging connections across generations is evident in his work.
