[Sung Chan-eol's Comics] 「Kindergarten WARS」 Turns Body Count Into Bizarre Rom-Com Fun

I'm obsessed with subculture. If a story or character feels fresh—whether in film, webtoons, games, comics, or animation—I check it out. Comics opened the world of fandom to me, and now I'm a kid-at-heart adult who reads paper volumes as e-books and webtoons on my phone. But it's less fun alone. I write [Sung Chan-eol's Comics] to share what’s more enjoyable experienced together, from the perspective of an enthusiastic generalist.
If someone asked me to sum up this comic, I'd probably hesitate and finally say, "It's fun. " It is fun. But it's not easy to explain. When I try to list impressions I come up with words that don't normally go together—funny, sweet, scary, brutal—so it's hard to convey.

[Sungchan Eol's Comic Book] Did I, Who Became a Pigeon Overnight, End Up Living with My Classmate?! 「Seongbuk-gu Pigeon Lee Heon-seo」

I am obsessed with subculture. I explore not only movies but also webtoons, games, comics, and animations that deal with fresh stories, themes, and characters. Having opened the world of 'fandom' through comic books, I have become an 'adult child' who reads comics on e-books and webtoons on my...

[Joo Seong-cheol’s Locker] See ‘Hope’ Again Through the Driver-Grade Cap Joo Seong-cheol Wears While Racing Across Seong-gi Bridge in ‘The Yellow Sea’ and ‘Goksung’

[Joo Seong-cheol’s Locker] See ‘Hope’ Again Through the Driver-Grade Cap Joo Seong-cheol Wears While Racing Across Seong-gi Bridge in ‘The Yellow Sea’ and ‘Goksung’

I get hooked on the objects in the movies. I end up deep in thought about why the director—whether it was the director, the cinematographer, the production designer, or even an actor—put that particular item in front of the camera. ‘Joo Seong-cheol’s Locker’ is a record of the objects in films that delicately landed on my eyes.
Park Chan-wook’s 〈The Handmaiden〉 and Na Hong-jin’s 〈Goksung〉 were released in 2016, on June 1 and May 12, respectively, in the same year. Coincidentally, both films were invited to the Cannes Film Festival that year—Park Chan-wook’s to the competition section and Na Hong-jin’s to the...

‘Hope’ Finally Meets Moviegoers. Here’s How Cineplay’s Critics Rated It

Advance bookings alone topped 600,000. That opening-day figure shows that 〈Hope〉 has become a national talking point, not just a movie-industry event. 〈Hope〉 is the new film from director Na Hong-jin, known for the tense, audacious intensity of 〈The Chaser〉, 〈The Yellow Sea〉 and 〈The Wailing〉.

[Joo Sung-cheol’s Locker] Watching “Marty Supreme,” Recalling Yoon Nam-gyu’s Penholder Table Tennis Racket

I get hooked on objects shown in movies. I can’t help but wonder why the director, the cinematographer, the production designer—or even the actor—put that item in front of the camera. “Joo Sung-cheol’s Locker” is a record of the movie objects that landed softly in my eyes.
〈Marty Supreme〉 is a table tennis movie. For Korean film fans, the Sharpdy brothers are well known for 〈Heaven Knows What〉(2014), 〈Good Time〉(2017), and 〈Uncut Gems〉(2019), but 〈Marty Supreme〉 is a feature film that older brother Josh Safdie directed on his own for the first time in nearly 10 years.
