〈The Three-Body Problem〉 has finally announced the filming of Season 2.
The Netflix Original 〈The Three-Body Problem〉 is based on the novel of the same name by Liu Cixin, dealing with a secret that transcends time and space discovered by five scientists, concerning the survival of humanity. Released on March 21, 2024, 〈The Three-Body Problem〉 received praise for effectively conveying the vast scale and somewhat complex original story in a way suitable for drama. However, due to low viewership compared to the high production costs, the follow-up season was temporarily adrift. However, defying expectations, it was confirmed on May 17, 2024, that a follow-up season would be produced.
Thus, the follow-up 〈The Three-Body Problem〉 broke its long silence and announced on August 1, 2025, through its official account that filming for Season 2 had begun. Along with a photo featuring chairs and props with the Three-Body logo, it announced the filming of Season 2 with the phrase, “The universe is a dark forest.” Following this, it was added that Alfie Allen, David Ipp, and Jordan Sunshine joined the cast.
Aisa Gonzalez, who has been appearing as Augustina Salazar since Season 1 of 〈The Three-Body Problem〉, also revealed a photo from the filming location in Budapest, Hungary, indicating that filming is underway. Currently, Netflix has stated that it plans to produce 〈The Three-Body Problem〉 up to Season 3, intending to closely follow the original story.
