Actor Jussie Smollett will appear on Fox's survival program 'Stars on Mars: The Ultimate Test of Skill'.

Smollett will participate as one of 18 celebrities in this program airing this fall, performing challenges modeled after military special forces training.

Other cast members include Olympic gymnastics gold medalist Shawn Johnson East, 'Real Housewives' Teresa Giudice, 'Sister Wives' Kody Brown, former NFL players Randall Cobb and Eric Decker, and country singer Jessie James Decker.

Smollett starred in the Fox drama 'Empire' for five seasons from 2015 to 2019. In January 2019, he claimed he was attacked by two Black men in Chicago with homophobic slurs.

However, the two men testified that Smollett staged a fake attack for money, leading to charges of filing a false report. After paying a fine and completing community service, the charges were dropped, but he was recharged in 2020 and found guilty of five felony counts related to the false report in 2021.

After being incarcerated for six days, Smollett was released when the Illinois Supreme Court overturned his conviction due to violations of due process. He has consistently claimed he did not orchestrate a crime and will also appear in a documentary set to be released on Netflix on August 22.
