Co-habitation of Fairies and Humans? Casting Confirmed for ‘Taewonjung’ with Bang Min-ah, Kim Woo-kyum, and Nam Young-joo

Content production company Adhesive has confirmed the production of the new drama 〈Taewonjung〉 with a unique worldview, officially announcing the casting of Bang Min-ah, Kim Woo-kyum, and Nam Young-joo as the lead lineup, raising expectations. 〈Taewonjung〉 is a comic fantasy drama about three fairies who come down to the human world and accidentally inherit a shabby neighborhood bathhouse ‘Taewonjung’ along with a pair of twin siblings, embarking on an extraordinary bathhouse business. The intricate worldview and unique chemistry created by the distinctive fairies and the chaotic human siblings, along with a variety of characters ranging from the Jade Emperor to evil spirits, are cited as the biggest attractions of this work.

Actors who have garnered attention for their outstanding acting skills are drawing focus with the news of their joining 〈Taewonjung〉. Bang Min-ah will play the role of the urban-chic fairy ‘Garam’. Having received public love for her versatile talents through the group ‘Girl’s Day’, she solidified her position as an actor by winning the International Rising Star Award at the 20th New York Asian Film Festival and the Best New Actress Award at the 22nd Busan Film Critics Awards for the film 〈The Best Life〉. She was also nominated for the Best New Actress Award at the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards, further recognizing her acting skills. She has showcased a wide acting spectrum through films 〈Her Brightness〉, 〈Wonjung Villa〉, 〈Long Time No See〉, and numerous dramas.

The role of ‘Gitae’, one of the twin siblings and co-owner of 〈Taewonjung〉, has been cast with the talented actor Kim Woo-kyum. Kim Woo-kyum has shown deep acting skills by transforming in every project, including dramas 〈Melody is My Nature〉, 〈It’s Okay to Not Be Okay〉, 〈The Guy is a Black Dragon〉, and 〈LTNS〉. He has been showcasing his presence by crossing between the screen and television, including the opening film of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) 〈I Hate Korea〉. The unpredictable comic romance between human ‘Gitae’ and the fairies is also expected to be a major highlight of ‘Taewonjung’.

Finally, the role of the other owner, the sister ‘Gi-won’, will be played by the versatile entertainer Nam Young-joo. Nam Young-joo made a mark on the public as an emotional vocalist through SBS ‘K-Pop Star 3’ and has received consistent love from fans since her debut as a singer. She has stepped into acting through the play ‘Love Playlist’ and the drama 〈Love’s Intervention〉, and received praise for her stable performance as ‘Solbi’, the ex-girlfriend of Ahn Jae-hong in JTBC 〈Melody is My Nature〉.

Production company Adhesive stated, “Given the nature of the fantasy genre, the key is to achieve the best visual beauty,” and added, “We plan to present a new visual that combines live-action footage with AI technology through various programs that will be updated in real-time.” 〈Taewonjung〉 is set to crank in August 2025 and will reach viewers through an OTT platform in 2026.
