The teaser trailer for the new sports movie 'Marty Supreme', starring Timothée Chalamet, has been released.

A24 announced that Josh Safdie's latest work will hit theaters on December 25. Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion, Kevin O'Leary, Tyler Okonma (Tyler, the Creator), Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher have joined the cast.

Marty Mauser Betting on Table Tennis Dreams

'Marty Supreme' centers around Marty Mauser, played by Chalamet, who pursues an ambitious dream that no one else respects. The released footage features Chalamet's character engaging in thrilling table tennis matches while trying to explain the appeal of the sport.

"It may be hard to believe, but I’ll tell you. This game fills stadiums overseas," Chalamet says in the trailer, adding, "It’s only a matter of time before I’m looking at you from the cover of a Wheaties cereal box."

A Scene Appealing to Actors

In another moment from the trailer, Chalamet is seen trying to make a deep impression on Paltrow's charming character. "I’ve never talked to a real movie star before," he says, "I’m a performer in some ways too."

A Solo Work by the Safdie Brothers

Director Safdie helmed the film based on a screenplay co-written with Ronald Bronstein. Chalamet, Safdie, Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas are involved as producers.

This project marks another collaboration between Safdie and A24 following Safdie's recent two works, 'Good Time' (2017) and 'Uncut Gems' (2019). Both previous films were co-directed with his brother Benny Safdie.

Chalamet's Comeback Film

This is Chalamet's first film since being nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Bob Dylan in last year's musical biopic 'A Complete Unknown'.

'Marty Supreme' is the first feature film that Josh Safdie has directed solo since 'The Pleasure of Being Robbed' in 2008. Meanwhile, Benny Safdie directed A24's 'The Smashing Machine' with Dwayne Johnson, and the biopic of former wrestler and mixed martial artist Mark Kerr will be released on October 3.
