Actor Park Bo-gum is currently considering an offer to star in the historical film 〈Dreaming of the Peach Blossom Spring〉. Park Bo-gum's agency, The Black Label, announced on August 14 through 'Newsen' that Park Bo-gum is discussing participation in the project. 〈Dreaming of the Peach Blossom Spring〉 is a period drama based on the ink and wash painting 'Dreaming of the Peach Blossom Spring' created by Prince Anpyeong, the third son of King Sejong of Joseon, in 1447, and it reexamines themes of art, power, and sibling conflict.
The role Park Bo-gum is considering is that of Prince Anpyeong. Additionally, it has been reported that actor Kim Nam-gil is also considering the role of Prince Suyang, raising expectations for a potential collaboration between the two actors. 〈Dreaming of the Peach Blossom Spring〉 will be directed by Jang Hoon, known for 〈The Battleship Island〉 and 〈A Taxi Driver〉, and is co-produced by the film companies Doodung and Man Pictures, with Megabox Plus M handling distribution. Filming is scheduled to begin in October, indicating that production will gain momentum within the year.
'Dreaming of the Peach Blossom Spring' is a painting that Prince Anpyeong had the painter An Gyeon create based on a paradise he saw in a dream, which was completed in three days, with 23 contemporary literati leaving titles and poems to enhance its artistic quality. This work is evaluated for its dramatic contrast between reality and the paradise, creating a unified atmosphere. The film is expected to explore the conflicts during the Gye-yu Jeongnan (Gye-yu Coup) and the human anguish between brothers, centering around the Dreaming of the Peach Blossom Spring.
