The movie 〈Japhil〉 (working title) successfully completed all filming and cranked up on August 26. 〈Japhil〉 (working title) tells the story of Minister of Justice candidate ‘Seok-kyu’ as he prepares for a hearing, unraveling a past incident related to the letter of the last death row inmate in South Korea, Soon-hwa, and getting closer to the truth, delivering a heavy message along with a heartwarming emotional impact.

Actor Jung Sung-il, who made a strong impression on the public with global OTT series 〈The Glory〉 and 〈Trigger〉, plays the role of ‘Seok-kyu’, a Minister of Justice candidate who is expected by both ruling and opposition parties as a new representation of politicians in this era. Depending on the film's structure that crosses past and present, he will portray the prosecutor in charge of the Soon-hwa case in 1997, deeply exploring the changes over more than 20 years.

Actress Park Ji-hyun, who has shown her acting skills across genres in the movie 〈Hidden Face〉 and the drama 〈Chaebol X Detective〉, plays ‘Soon-hwa’, a character sentenced to death with the title of a notorious villain due to the ‘Migeum-dong Arson Murder Case’. Through her unembellished appearance and delicate inner acting, she will present a new face and elevate the immersion of the film with her strong presence.

Meanwhile, the movie 〈Japhil〉 (working title) is provided and produced by Blue Fire Studio, which is currently producing 〈Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight〉, in collaboration with Stone V Studio, a label of Big Stone Pictures, known for producing ‘Myeongryang’ and ‘Hansan: Rising Dragon’. Director Hong Sung-min, who is at the helm, won the film promotion committee competition with the screenplay for 〈Broken City〉 in 2023 and will make his feature film directorial debut with this work, which has been selected for the feature film support project of the film promotion committee in 2025.

A representative from Blue Fire Studio stated, “With a heavy theme that resonates with the current reality of South Korea and the immersive performances of Jung Sung-il and Park Ji-hyun, this work will deliver a powerful resonance to the audience.” The movie 〈Japhil〉 (working title) aims to be released in 2026 after post-production.
