Band Dream Theater to Hold 40th Anniversary Concert in Seoul Next February

The representative American progressive metal band Dream Theater will hold a concert in Korea from February 20 to 22 next year at the Blue Square SOL Travel Hall in Seoul, as announced by the concert planning company Private Curve on the 2nd.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Dream Theater is regarded as a leading band in the progressive metal genre. It started as a band called 'Majesty' formed in 1985 by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy, who were students at the Berklee College of Music in the United States.

The band changed its name to Dream Theater in 1989 and officially debuted with their first studio album 'When Dream And Day Unite'. The album released in 1992, 'Images and Words', achieved commercial success through hit songs like 'Pull Me Under' and 'Another Day'. This album was recognized for its artistic merit by being included in Rolling Stone's list of 'The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time' in 2017.

Dream Theater was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2010 alongside Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, and Tony Bennett. Additionally, they won the 'Best Metal Performance' category at the 2022 Grammy Awards and continue to be active to this day.

Having sold over 15 million albums worldwide, Dream Theater has played a pioneering role in the progressive metal genre with their unique musical style that incorporates elements of classical and jazz into metal.

Dream Theater's history of performances in Korea began in 1999 with their participation in the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival. They have consistently performed on Korean stages, and this concert, taking place three years after 2023, will be their tenth concert in Korea.

Private Curve stated, "This concert is part of Dream Theater's Asia-Australia tour celebrating their 40th anniversary," adding, "It will be a special stage as drummer Mike Portnoy, who left the band, rejoins after 15 years."
