Police have launched an investigation into a Japanese woman who attempted to break into the home of Jungkook, a member of the group BTS. There are growing concerns over repeated incidents of excessive privacy invasion and stalking crimes by overseas fans targeting Jungkook's residence.

The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced on the 19th that they are conducting a pre-investigation into a 50-year-old Japanese woman, referred to as A, on suspicion of attempted burglary.

Attempts to Unlock the Door Over Three Days

According to the police, A is suspected of attempting to unlock the door of the single-family home where Jungkook resides in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, multiple times from the 12th to the 14th. After receiving related reports, the police plan to identify A's identity through CCTV footage analysis and conduct a thorough investigation.

This incident is the latest case in a series of attempted break-ins targeting Jungkook's residence, highlighting the serious situation of ongoing privacy invasions by overseas fans. The police have stated that they will respond strictly to acts that disturb the peace of residence.

Recurring Stalker Crimes

This is not the first attempt to break into Jungkook's residence. Previously, in August, a 40-year-old Korean woman was referred to the prosecution for breaking into Jungkook's home parking lot on charges of burglary and violation of the stalking punishment law. Additionally, a 30-year-old Chinese woman also attempted to break into Jungkook's residence but was only charged with an attempted crime and received a deferred prosecution disposition.

Invasion of privacy and stalking crimes against celebrities, especially global stars, have become a serious social issue regardless of nationality. Artists like Jungkook, who have gained worldwide popularity, often face excessive attempts at access from fans of various nationalities, making personal safety and privacy protection a significant challenge.

A police official stated, "We will thoroughly investigate based on the reports and respond strictly according to the law and principles."
