The Late Kim Soo-mi's Final Comedy Film 'The Revenge of the Skate' to Hit Theaters on the 10th of Next Month

The late Kim Soo-mi's final appearance in the comedy film 〈The Revenge of the Skate〉 will meet the audience on the 10th of next month.

The film 〈The Revenge of the Skate〉 is a comedy genre work that tells the story of alien skates that arrive on Earth in search of a new settlement and become trapped in a traditional skate restaurant's fermentation jar.

Kim Soo-mi plays the role of a foul-mouthed grandmother, Hong Halmae, who runs the skate restaurant. In the film, Kim Soo-mi showcases her acting that conveys the weight of life along with scenes where she confronts the alien skates. The work was completed filming in 2023.

Director Lee Soo-sung revealed at the premiere held on the 27th at Lotte Cinema Gunja that he had Kim Soo-mi in mind from the script writing stage. However, he hesitated to offer her a role due to the small scale of the production and it not being a major work, but he recalled that she immediately expressed her willingness to participate during their meeting, for which he was grateful.

Director Lee explained that Kim Soo-mi showed her willingness to participate in the work regardless of the film's scale or genre.

He stated, "The atmosphere was created where all the actors had no choice but to do their best because a respected senior was passionately engaged in acting on set, and I vividly remember how considerate she was during filming."

He added that he wanted to take this opportunity to express his gratitude to his senior.
