Netflix Sends Acquisition Notice Email for Warner... "Independent Operation for the Time Being"

Netflix has stated its position regarding the acquisition of Warner Brothers.

On December 8 (Korean time), Netflix sent a notice to users titled 'Welcoming Warner Bros. to Netflix'. The email officially announced that Netflix would be acquiring Warner Brothers and simultaneously hinted that users would soon be able to encounter Warner Brothers-owned IP on the platform.

However, it seems that this will not happen immediately upon acquisition. Netflix stated that several steps remain until the acquisition is complete, and for the time being, the two streaming services will operate independently. This is also because Warner Brothers operates its own streaming platform, HBO Max.

Currently, Netflix is expected to face several challenges ahead of the acquisition of Warner Brothers. Continuous scrutiny from antitrust agencies and fierce backlash from the film industry against media monopolies are anticipated.
