CGV Launches AI-Based 'Interactive Cinema'... 3 Titles Including 'Mystic Apartment' Revealed

CJ CGV and Aria Studio are introducing a new way of watching movies called 'Interactive Cinema' in the domestic market, where the story changes based on the audience's voice and emotional reactions.

Aria Studio held an 'Interactive Cinema' showcase on the 9th at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall and revealed three upcoming titles.

'Interactive Cinema' is a screening format based on artificial intelligence (AI) agent technology that recognizes the audience's voice or emotional reactions in real-time, altering the direction of the content.

Starting with 〈Interactive Mystic Apartment: Whispers of the Theater Ghost〉, which will be unveiled this month, three titles including 〈Virtual Symphony: The First Note〉 and 〈Apartment: In the Realm of Ripley〉 will meet the audience in the interactive cinema format.

The first work, 〈Interactive Mystic Apartment: Whispers of the Theater Ghost〉, is a project that combines interactive cinema technology with the popular children's animation series 〈Mystic Apartment〉 in Korea.

The story involves the theater ghost that appears in the cinema being defeated by the goblin Mystic and the audience, with the audience actively participating in the story development by shouting or directly answering the character's questions.

〈Virtual Symphony: The First Note〉 is a work that cross-edits the daily life and stage of virtual idol Moon Bona, providing an immersive experience as if the audience is participating in a fan meeting.

Director Chae Soo-eung's thriller 〈Apartment: In the Realm of Ripley〉 is designed for the audience to enter the boy's memories to find the real culprit and choose the truth.

〈Apartment: In the Realm of Ripley〉 is planned to be released simultaneously in both interactive cinema and regular 2D versions in the first half of next year, and it has also been invited to the immersive competition section of the 81st Venice International Film Festival.
