Park Chan-wook confessed that he was moved after watching 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉.
On the 8th (local time), as the nominees for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards were announced, the American entertainment media Variety called the selected nominees to ask for their thoughts. Various actors and directors, including Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Joachim Trier, responded to phone interviews with Variety, and Park Chan-wook, who was nominated in three categories for 〈It Can't Be Helped〉, also shared his feelings about the Golden Globe nomination.
On that day, Park Chan-wook said, "I happened to wake up early in the morning and learned about the nomination news," and regarding Lee Byung-hun, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for 〈It Can't Be Helped〉, he stated, "Most directors would think that it is more meaningful when actors are recognized and receive awards than when the director is recognized. An actor's recognition is akin to the director's recognition." He expressed great support, saying, "Lee Byung-hun's expressions in the film were so rich that I wondered how a person could make so many expressions. If he hadn't been nominated, I would have been disappointed."
When asked about his impressions of other works that were nominated alongside, he said, "I cried a lot when I saw the climax of 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉, the scene where the three members take the stage together. It is a universal emotion that anyone can relate to. It is a film that truly utilizes the power and potential of animation as a medium," revealing that he was deeply impressed by 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉.
Park Chan-wook's film 〈It Can't Be Helped〉 has been nominated in three categories for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
