On the 11th (local time), The Hollywood Reporter (THR) reported that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will star in the new prequel film of the 'Hunger Games' series, 'Sunrise on the Reaping'. This marks their return to the series approximately 10 years after 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' in 2015.

◆ Hearing the Tragedy of 24 Years Ago

Produced by Lionsgate and directed by Francis Lawrence, this film is set 24 years before the first installment of the series, during the 50th Hunger Games (Second Quarter Quell). The story focuses on the younger days of Haymitch Abernathy (played by Woody Harrelson), the winner at that time.

According to reports, Lawrence (as Katniss) and Hutcherson (as Peeta) are likely to appear in a Flash-forward scene. Similar to the epilogue of the original novel, it is expected that Katniss and Peeta will be sitting with an older Haymitch after the war, listening to the horrific stories of his past. The two actors reportedly participated in filming this scene for about two days.

The casting lineup for this prequel is truly 'Avengers-level'. Rising star Joseph Zada has been dramatically cast as the young Haymitch, while the legendary villain President Coriolanus Snow is played by the great actor Ralph Fiennes, adding gravitas to the role.

Additionally, 'Succession' star Kieran Culkin will portray the flamboyant show host Caesar Flickerman, and Elle Fanning will play the uniquely fashionable Effie Trinket. Other cast members include Jesse Plemons (as Plutarch Heavensbee) and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
