One of the richest women in the world, American philanthropist ‘MacKenzie Scott’(MacKenzie Scott)’. Recently donated $63 million to California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She has donated a total of $7.1 billion(10 trillion won) to non-profit organizations this year alone. This significantly exceeds last year ($2.6 billion) and 2023 ($2.1 billion). She emphasized through an essay that “what matters more than the amount is the trust and solidarity conveyed to the community.”

Scott, who was the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has a net worth of about $33 billion. This comes from the Amazon shares she received during her divorce from ‘Jeff Bezos’ in 2019. Nevertheless, she has donated about $26 billion to over 200 organizations, returning nearly 90% of her assets to society. Including this donation, the cumulative amount donated since she began her philanthropic efforts after her divorce in 2019 has reached $26.3 billion. The main areas of donation are ‘climate change’ and ‘education improvement’. Additionally, her donations are noteworthy because they are ‘unrestricted’ donations with no conditions attached.

‘Bill Gates’ and ‘Warren Buffett’ are surpassed by the donation scale of ‘MacKenzie Scott’, who is rewriting the standards of global social contribution through a new charitable model of unconditional giving. This is why her actions are being mentioned as a candidate for ‘Time Magazine’s Person of the Year’.

Scott also left this message on her blog: “Helping any of us can help us all.” In her teenage years, her family went bankrupt to the point where her parents filed for bankruptcy. Scott was unable to afford college tuition, and the New York Times reported that “thanks to money borrowed from a friend, she barely managed to avoid dropping out of college.”

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos recently remarried and held a lavish wedding estimated to cost over $60 million.
