'Zootopia 2', Breaks 6 Million Viewers in 2025, Becomes the Top Box Office Hit of the Year

Disney Animation 〈Zootopia 2〉 has set a record as the first film of 2025 to surpass 6 million viewers.

According to the integrated ticket sales network on the 21st, 〈Zootopia 2〉 attracted over 258,000 viewers the previous day, bringing its cumulative audience to over 6,086,000.

This film surpassed 〈Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc〉, which had been holding the number one spot at the domestic box office, just 23 days after its release. With this 6 million milestone, it has firmly established itself as the top box office hit of 2025.

In the all-time domestic box office rankings for animated films, 〈Zootopia 2〉 has reached 5th place. Currently, the top spot is held by 〈Frozen 2〉 (2019, 13.76 million), followed by 〈Frozen〉 (2014, 10.32 million), 〈Inside Out 2〉 (2024, 8.79 million), and 〈Elemental〉 (2023, 7.24 million), achieving a remarkable record where all top 5 films are Disney and Pixar animations.

For reference, the 6th and 7th highest-grossing animated films of all time are 〈Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc〉 (2025, 5.68 million) and 〈Suzume〉 (2023, 5.58 million), respectively.

〈Zootopia 2〉 depicts the story of rabbit police officer Judy and fox officer Nick solving a mystery related to reptiles that has appeared in Zootopia City after 100 years. It is the sequel released 9 years after the original 〈Zootopia〉, which attracted 4.71 million viewers in 2016.
