Wim Wenders Retrospective Opens... Experience 13 Masterpieces at CGV Art House

A retrospective showcasing 13 works by Wim Wenders, a leading figure of New German Cinema, will be held.

The retrospective titled 'Wim Wenders Retrospective – A Journey That Became a Film, A Film That Became a Journey' organized by Emu Films Co., Ltd. will unveil masterpieces that span Wenders' filmography from his commercial debut to previously unreleased works in Korea. This exhibition will present a total of 13 films divided into three themes, from his early works to his latest.

Wim Wenders, a German master honored by the three major international film festivals of Cannes, Venice, and Berlin, has gained international acclaim as a key figure representing New German Cinema. Kim Sang-min, the CEO of Emu Films Co., Ltd., which imported the films and organized the retrospective, stated, "Initially, we intended to import only the major works of the director, but I became so captivated by all of Wim Wenders' films that the term 'major works' became meaningless. Therefore, I reached the conclusion that I wanted to introduce as many of his works as possible to domestic audiences, and I believe that the themes and questions posed by his 13 films are still relevant in today's era, just as much as the new films being released contemporaneously. For those who have already seen the films, I want to provide an experience of 'meeting in the theater again' with the outstanding quality and colors restored through remastering."

From the Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or winner 〈Paris, Texas〉 to Wenders' latest work 〈Anselm〉, which has not been released in Korea, the 'Wim Wenders Retrospective – A Journey That Became a Film, A Film That Became a Journey' will meet audiences at CGV Art House nationwide starting March 11 (Wednesday).
