Regarding the rumors of a sequel to Jim Carrey's masterpiece 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', which is summoned every Christmas season, the original star has spoken out. The conclusion is "no plans".
According to foreign media such as the New York Post on the 6th (Korean time), actress and singer Taylor Momsen, who played the lovable girl 'Cindy Lou Who' in the film, dismissed the possibility of a sequel at a Grammy viewing party held on the 1st.
◆ "Legends should remain legends"
In an interview with the New York Post, Momsen firmly stated when asked about working on a sequel with Jim Carrey, "As far as I know, there are no plans." She continued, "Some things should not be touched. 'The Grinch' is a timeless classic that has been loved for a long time in its own right," emphasizing the value of the original.
This is a direct rebuttal to the '2026 sequel production rumor' that circulated among fans. However, she had previously left the door open by saying, "If Jim Carrey asks, I would do anything" when she reunited with him for the first time in 25 years at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame event last November, adding to fans' disappointment.

◆ 'Cindy Lou Who' transformed into a rocker
Momsen is currently active as the frontwoman of the rock band 'The Pretty Reckless'. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film's release, she made waves last December by remaking the original's insert song 'Where Are You Christmas?' into a rock version. Additionally, at the MusiCares gala held on January 30, she took the stage with rock legends Foo Fighters and showcased her powerful presence by passionately performing Mariah Carey's hidden alternative rock tracks.
