The protagonist of the globally viral song 'Glimpse of Us', Joji (real name George Kusunoki Miller), has returned after 3 years. This album completely erases the shadow of his past as the eccentric YouTuber 'Filthy Frank' and solidifies his position as an artist with unique musicality.
On the 6th (Korean time), Joji released his fourth studio album 'Piss in the Wind' worldwide through his label Palace Creek.
◆ Original Sound Defying the Wind
This album organically combines Joji's signature melancholic yet beautiful Lo-fi and Trip-hop sounds with trap, folk, and electronic elements. In particular, the pre-released track 'If It Only Gets Better', released last November, adds unique atmospheric production to the acoustic guitar melody, proving that he has evolved while not losing the roots of his early sound. Additionally, five singles including 'Pixelated Kisses' and 'Love You Less' have garnered enthusiastic responses from fans even before the album's release.
◆ From 'Harlem Shake' to 'Madison Square Garden'
Joji's career is dramatic. He created the 'Harlem Shake' meme in 2011 while performing as the character 'Filthy Frank' on YouTube, but retired from YouTube in 2017 due to health issues and creative limitations. After transitioning to music, he hit big with his debut album and reached number one on the Spotify Global Chart with 'Glimpse of Us' in 2022, elevating him to 'world-class' status. Last year, he showcased his prowess as an arena tour artist by selling out Madison Square Garden in New York.
It remains to be seen whether this album 'Piss in the Wind', breaking a 3-year hiatus, will once again hit the global charts.
