The 76th Berlin International Film Festival kicked off with a glamorous opening on the 12th (local time) in Berlin, Germany. With the eyes of the global film industry focused on the event, global stars including Michelle Yeoh, who received the Honorary Golden Bear, jury member Bae Doona, and Yeom Hye-ran, who proved the strength of Korean cinema, adorned the night in Berlin.

Actress Michelle Yeoh, who made history as the first Asian actress to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, embraced the 'Honorary Golden Bear' at the opening ceremony. Raising the trophy high, she responded to the audience's standing ovation with a bright smile, marking the highlight of the festival.

This year's Berlin Film Festival jury lineup also garnered significant attention. With world-renowned director Wim Wenders as the jury chair, Korean actress Bae Doona joined as a jury member, reaffirming the elevated status of Korean filmmakers.

Bae Doona radiated her unique chic and elegant charm at the press conference and red carpet event held before the opening ceremony, receiving a flurry of flashes. During the festival, she will judge the invited films in the competition section, adding the perspective and depth of Korean filmmakers.

She participated in the forum section with director Jung Ji-young's new work 'My Name Is', and advanced to the European Film Market (EFM) with another leading role 'Mad Dance Office', emerging as a key actor leading the current of Korean cinema.

International media outlets such as Screen Daily also focused on Yeom Hye-ran's activities, evaluating that her works contribute to expanding the diversity of the Korean film lineup. Yeom Hye-ran is expected to prove her outstanding acting skills on the global stage through this film festival.

Rising star Shin Woo-bin also achieved the remarkable feat of being officially invited to the 'Forum' section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival with the film 'My Name Is'. Having received an invitation from one of the world's top three film festivals right after his debut, he confidently made his presence known on the red carpet at Malene Dietrich Square alongside director Jung Ji-young and actress Yeom Hye-ran. His journey, entering Berlin with his first leading role and debut work, has drawn local attention.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere at the opening ceremony was heated up by crowds eager to enjoy the film festival and various performances. Rapper Soho Bani delivered a passionate performance, while a protest with placards carrying social messages took place on the red carpet, showcasing the unique atmosphere of the Berlin Film Festival that respects art and freedom of expression.
