The 76th Berlin International Film Festival officially announced on the 28th (local time) that actress Bae Doona has been appointed as a judge.

Bae Doona will form a competition jury with international filmmakers, including U.S. director Reinaldo Marcus Green and Nepalese director Min Bahadur Bham. She will participate in selecting major award winners, including the top prize, the Golden Bear, and the jury will be led by German master director Wim Wenders.

This is the third time a figure from the Korean film industry has served as a judge at the Berlin Film Festival. Actress Lee Young-ae served as a judge in 2006, and director Bong Joon-ho did so in 2015.

In the competition section of the 76th Berlin Film Festival, which will be held from the 12th to the 22nd of next month, a total of 22 works will compete for the Golden Bear, including Lance Hammer's 〈Queen at Sea〉. The performance of Juliette Binoche, who stars in the film, is also receiving attention.

Among Korean films, Hong Sang-soo's 〈THE DAY SHE RETURNS〉 has been invited to the Panorama section, while Jeong Ji-young's 〈My Name〉 will be screened in the Forum section. The feature debut of emerging director Yoo Jae-in, 〈En Route To〉, has been invited to the Generation 14plus section, which deals with youth coming-of-age films.
