Winner of 13 Awards Worldwide… "The Best Discovery of the Toronto Film Festival" Acclaim
The film 〈Else〉 is a super sensory body horror romance depicting a couple's struggle against fear in a world plagued by an unknown epidemic where human bodies merge with surrounding objects. It was invited to the Midnight Madness section of the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and quickly became a hot topic, receiving praise as "the best discovery of TIFF."
In particular, this work has garnered attention as an experimental attempt that follows in the lineage of body horror master David Cronenberg. It swept 13 awards at major film festivals worldwide, including Best New Director and Best Special Effects at the 57th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, earning recognition for its artistic merit. The fact that French director Thibaut Emain has completed his first feature film after 13 years of dedication since directing the short film of the same name in 2007 also draws interest.
A Moment Where the Body Merges with Concrete… Bizarre and Captivating Visuals
The main poster released alongside the confirmation of the release captures the moment where the cold blue-toned texture of concrete bizarrely intertwines with the human body, overwhelming the viewer's gaze. Above the protagonist 'Anse', who appears to be communicating with something while keeping his eyes closed, a review stating "the birth of a completely original body horror" adds to the anticipation of a sensory horror that diverges from existing horror films.
Crossing the boundaries of horror, romance, and fantasy, 〈Else〉 is set to hit theaters nationwide on March 19, promising audiences an unprecedented visual experience.
