The Busan International Film Festival has been selected as an 'A-List' film festival, which only 17 film festivals worldwide have achieved.
The Busan International Film Festival announced on March 16 (Korean time) that it has been selected for the 'A-List' by FIAPF (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films). FIAPF, established in 1933, introduced a new certification system based on the comprehensive capabilities of film festivals to select the 'A-List'. The Busan International Film Festival is the only festival in Korea to be named on the 'A-List'.
FIAPF selected the Busan International Film Festival as 'A-List' by continuously collecting two years of quantitative and qualitative data on ▲work selection (Selection), ▲industry connection activities (Industry Connections and Activities), ▲media and promotion (Press and Promotion), and ▲screenings and audiences (Screenings and Audiences). Jung Han-seok, Executive Chairman of the Busan International Film Festival, stated, "This selection is a joyful result that shows the rapid rise of the international capabilities of the Busan International Film Festival. It is also very significant that we have been recognized by a highly credible organization that evaluates major international film festivals worldwide. We will continue to strive to further develop our global status as an 'A-List film festival.'"
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held from Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to Wednesday, October 15.
