Ahead of 'BTS Comeback Live: Arirang,' Netflix and BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) shared the meaning behind the album and stage that BTS prepared.
On March 20, Netflix held a press conference at Cine Cube Gwanghwamun in Jongno-gu, Seoul, for 'BTS: The Live.' The event featured Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s Nonfiction Series and Sports VP, Garrett English, the Executive Producer, Kim Hyun-jung, the VP of HYBE Music, and Yoo Dong-joo, APAC Regional Representative for HYBE Music Group. They discussed 'BTS Comeback Live: Arirang,' which will take place on March 21.

Yoo Dong-joo said, “While preparing for this performance, I was asked the question 'Why Gwanghwamun?' the most.” He explained, “(Gwanghwamun as a place) is connected to BTS’s identity. We thought about what is 'BTS-like' and what kind of performance only they can deliver. This will be a historic moment—BTS returning after about four years—and a way of drawing the BTS story that comes next.”

Kim Hyun-jung, the VP of HYBE Music, said, “So far, BTS has poured into albums the stories they wanted to tell and the emotions the members have felt. You can think of this album the same way: it reflects the feelings and the stories the members want to share right now.” She then described their new release, 'Arirang.' She added that the outcome of the 'Arirang' album came from many considerations during the production process—by BTS members, as well as Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, the Executive Producer, and many people within the company. “As the name suggests, it’s an album that starts from BTS’s roots. To deliver these feelings to people around the world, we used both Korean and English in the album,” she said, sharing the core idea behind the new release.
'BTS Comeback Live: Arirang' is Netflix’s live event scheduled for March 21—a live broadcast celebrating the release of BTS’s new album, 'Arirang,' as the group returns as a full lineup for the first time in about four years. Set within a historic space spanning Seoul’s Gyeongbokgung Palace to Gwanghwamun, BTS will present the stage to about 100,000 in-person fans and Netflix viewers worldwide.
