Born with innate musical genius that astonished the world, 'Michael Jackson'—the film that captures the legendary music and electrifying performances that made him the King of Pop—will be released on May 13. Produced by Graham King of 〈Bohemian Rhapsody〉 and directed by Antoine Fuqua of 〈The Magnificent Seven〉 and 〈Training Day〉, Cineplay editor Joo Seong-chul shares his impressions after watching the film.

Paying homage to Charlie Chaplin in 〈Modern Times〉 (1936) and Gene Kelly in 〈Singin' in the Rain〉 (1952), Michael Jackson's cinephile perfectionism is on display. The film also focuses on Michael's difficult struggle to break free from his father's grip and establish his independence. I'd rate the likeness to Michael at about 80%?
