'Korea Music Copyright Association' Takes Aim at the AI Era… Unprecedented 'Organizational Restructuring' After 12 Years
The Korea Music Copyright Association, a registered nonprofit organization 'Korea Music Copyright Association' (Chairman 'Lee Siha') has carried out an unprecedented large-scale 'organizational restructuring' to proactively respond to the rapidly changing global music industry environment. The core goal of this overhaul is to strengthen copyright protection by enhancing 'transparency' in management and preparing for the upcoming 'artificial intelligence (AI)' era.
Launches Dedicated 'Future Lab' for AI and Shifts to a Department-Chief System to Maximize Work Efficiency
'Korea Music Copyright Association' officially announced on the 11th that it has established 'Future Lab', a key dedicated unit tasked with responding to complex copyright issues triggered by advances in AI technology. Along with this, it reorganized the staff by newly setting up the secretariat, HR team, legal support team, and customer service (CS) support team, further subdividing and strengthening the organization’s expertise.
Notably, the association has boldly abolished the head-officer system it maintained for the past 12 years and fully transitioned to a department-chief system. Through this, it is being evaluated as having resolved decision-making bottlenecks and maximized practical, work-focused efficiency.
Reinforces Responsibility in Response to Designation as a Public-Interest-Linked Organization… Declares Trust Recovery Through a Hard-Hitting Innovation
This 'organizational restructuring' is a measure to actively respond to the call of the times that, since the association was designated as a public-interest-linked organization last year, demands heightened social responsibility and advanced 'transparency'. In addition, it reflects a strong commitment to conduct an internal, no-holds-barred renewal to fully restore the trust of the public and members, which had been undermined by misconduct incidents among some former senior officials.
A key official at the association said, "This restructuring of offices reflects the clear reform will of the newly appointed 'Lee Siha' chairman," adding, "We will protect members’ rights and interests as our top priority, establish transparent management, and further enhance the distribution system. At the same time, we will thoroughly secure the capacity to respond to copyright in a manner befitting the 'artificial intelligence (AI)' era."
