A 200 million-view office romance legend kicks in, with the curtain rising

tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama 'See You Tomorrow at Work!' grabbed viewers’ attention powerfully from the very first week of its broadcast. According to a metric released by Nielsen Korea on the 23rd, the Episode 1 installment, aired on the 22nd, achieved a 4.8% viewership rating nationwide based on households, proving a new hit formula for the 'office romance' genre.

At the center of the story are Cha Ji-yun ('Park Ji-hyun')—a seventh-year office worker trapped in the double bind of work and love—and Kang Si-woo ('Seo In-guk'), a cold new boss who seems like he wouldn’t bleed even if you stabbed him. On the fateful day when Cha Ji-yun decides to propose to her lover Jo Ga-eul (Choi Kyung-hoon), she is hit with the despair of an unbelievable "sudden disappearance" breakup. To make matters worse, when Kang Si-woo is appointed as the team leader whose seat is now vacant, the tension inside the drama reaches its peak.

The standout moment comes when the delicate personal dynamics inside the office explode. While Cha Ji-yun repeatedly questions Kang Si-woo about attending the wedding of Choi Soo-jin, the design team’s manager (Park Ye-young), she faces the shocking truth that Choi Soo-jin is none other than Kang Si-woo’s ex-wife. The scene delivers a chilling sense of tension to viewers, along with a black-comedy catharsis.

In this suffocating maze of misunderstandings, the line Kang Si-woo throws out—"If you’re sorry, go away and drink"—acts as a decisive trigger that overturns the two people’s relationship. After escaping the bleak office and meeting in a private space, they discover each other’s inner sides, raising expectations to the fullest for the unpredictable developments that lie ahead.

The work is based on the eponymous original by 'Kakao Webtoon', which has amassed an astonishing record of 200 million cumulative views. In other words, it proved in Episode 1 alone that a tightly built narrative structure—already validated—has been perfectly transplanted onto the TV screen.
