‘David’ Unveils Concept Art Perfected by the Craftsmanship of Global Artists

The film 〈David〉 has released concept art that offers a glimpse into how the work was created. The film 〈David〉 tells the story of how an ordinary shepherd named David encounters the destiny of a king, from the song of his mother to his confrontation with the giant Goliath whom the world feared.

The concept art unveiled this time captures the production team’s intense 고민 and craftsmanship. Completed over 10 years by about 400 artists across 32 countries worldwide, the 〈David〉 brought together world-class concept artists from both live-action and animation to build the work’s distinctive visual universe. The team also conducted thorough research and on-site scouting to realistically recreate the landscapes and everyday life of the ancient Middle East. In addition, it carefully reflected not only the terrain of the Elah Valley, the film’s main setting, but also the textures of light and air, completing both the warm sensibility unique to animation and historical realism.

The revealed concept art draws in viewers by depicting a boy’s journey toward his destiny in an emotional visual style. From the peaceful daily life of shepherd ‘David’ looking after his flock on a blue meadow to the warm moment when he plays the zither together with his younger sister ‘Sruya,’ the images beautifully capture the purity of his earlier days.

Next, the scenes of David facing the fate of a king after being anointed by the prophet ‘Samuel,’ the courageous moment when he stands up to a lion in the rough wilderness, and his rise as a hero amid King ‘Saul’ and the cheering people are captured in a compelling way, showing how a boy gradually realizes his calling. Meanwhile, David standing alone before an endless expanse of wilderness and valleys and in front of massive nature sets up anticipation for the overwhelming scale and grand epic the film will bring to the screen.
