A Meeting of Mythic Storytelling and Astonishing Direction, Relentless Box Office Run

According to data from the Integrated Ticketing Network for movie theater admissions on Aug. 18, from the 14th to the 17th, ‘Odyssey’ drew a total of about 2.312 million viewers, reaching a cumulative audience count of about 5.163 million. Since it opened on the 5th, the film has been on a flawless run without ever relinquishing the ‘Box Office’ No. 1 spot—an ongoing surge that shows no sign of slowing.

The trend in audience growth is even more remarkable. After crossing the 1 million mark on the fourth day after release, it recorded 3 million on day 10 and 4 million on day 12—then demonstrated an unprecedented pace by seizing the 5 million milestone in just a single day. Reinterpreting Homer’s immortal epic, ‘The Odyssey’, with a modern sensibility, the film powerfully brings to the screen the harrowing journey of Troy War hero Odysseus (played by Matt Damon) as he returns to his homeland of Ithaca.

A Fierce Battle for Second Place and Steady Ticket Reservation Rates—A Clear Sign of Long-Run Success

Following behind, domestic animation’s pride ‘Love Hatchlings: The Legend of the Whale Gem’ settled into third place with about 198,000 viewers, and the upbeat comedic action starring Uhm Jung-hwa—‘Okay Madam 2’—took fourth place with about 156,000 viewers, filling the theater peak season with a variety of genres.

Looking ahead, ‘Odyssey’ is expected to keep the field to itself.
