

Park Hae-il, Park Seo-joon and Choi Dae-hoon are joining forces in director Lee Joon-ik’s new film.
Director Lee Joon-ik’s new film 〈Firefly〉 announced its cast Aug. 21 and unveiled its production schedule. Set in 1974, 〈Firefly〉 follows detective Jun-gyeong, who wants to escape the stigma of guilt by association, as he travels to Hwayong-myeon in pursuit of a claim from Man-seop, an unidentified figure, that “there’s a case that will produce major results.” Park Hae-il, Park Seo-joon and Choi Dae-hoon star in the film.
Park Hae-il, Park Seo-joon and Choi Dae-hoon will play Man-seop, Jun-gyeong and Tae-sik, respectively. Park Hae-il plays Man-seop, the character who throws out the bait that sets the film in motion, adding to the mystery at its center. Park Seo-joon takes on the role of Jun-gyeong, who heads to Hwayong-myeon after hearing Man-seop’s information. Jun-gyeong’s desperation as his prospects for advancement are blocked by guilt by association is expected to reveal a new side of Park Seo-joon. Choi Dae-hoon plays Tae-sik, a deputy director of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency who ranks above the law and the police, offering another showcase for the wide-ranging acting ability he has demonstrated in recent work.

〈The King and the Clown〉, 〈Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet〉, 〈Park Yeol〉 and 〈The Book of Fish〉, among other period films that have performed particularly well, director Lee Joon-ik’s 1974 mystery 〈Firefly〉 is set to begin filming in September.
