‘Assassins’ Lee Min-ho: “My facial puffiness came and went … I looked puffy on days without action”

Lee Min-ho opened up about a detail in 〈Assassins〉 that only he noticed.

Actor Lee Min-ho discussed the film 〈Assassins〉 during a roundtable interview on Sept. 11. “The greatest takeaway was getting to observe, up close, the chemistry among Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and director Hur Jin-ho,” he said, expressing his affection for the people he worked with on 〈Assassins〉.

He then laughed and said, “This may be something only I noticed, but my facial puffiness came and went.” He explained, “I worried that if I tried to make the puffiness disappear completely, as actors do for television dramas, I might look too preoccupied with my appearance. I tried not to focus too much on my looks.” He added, “There was less puffiness on days when I used my body a lot, and some puffiness on days when I didn’t use it as much.”

The film 〈Assassins〉 follows detective Cheol-gu (Yoo Hae-jin), who investigates a 1974 attempted assassination of the president and the suspicions surrounding it; Jae-hwan (Park Hae-il), a social affairs desk editor; and Young-il (Lee Min-ho), a rookie reporter on the social affairs desk. It opens Sept. 23.
