Alfonso Cuarón will visit Korea for the Busan International Film Festival.
The Busan International Film Festival, or BIFF, on Sept. 18 unveiled the official schedule for filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. Cuarón, who made his debut in 2001 with 〈Y tu mamá también〉 and went on to direct 〈Children of Men〉, 〈Gravity〉 and 〈Roma〉, among other films, will set foot in Korea for the first time since his debut.
He will meet Korean audiences during this year's BIFF through an appearance at the opening ceremony, a special talk following an IMAX screening of 〈Gravity〉 and a master class. In particular, the master class will offer a rare opportunity to hear Cuarón speak directly about his filmmaking choices. Through a focus on characters and restrained editing and direction, he has drawn audiences deeply into his characters' experiences of time and emotion. This year's BIFF will also present his son Jonas Cuarón's new film 〈Gabbacho Champion〉 in its Asian premiere.
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will run from Tuesday, Oct. 6, through Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Busan Cinema Center and venues across Busan.
