The world of 〈Hello, Francesca〉, the legendary sitcom that swept South Korea in the 2000s, is being revived as a high-school romance. Streaming service Wavve confirmed that its new original drama 〈Francesca Next Door〉 will premiere November 6 and released a teaser poster and the first teaser video on the 27th.
〈Francesca Next Door〉 (produced by MBC and CAC Corporation) is a spin-off that retains the original series’ distinctive vampire premise while moving the setting to a high school. It follows the chaotic school life and sweet-but-dangerous romance that unfold when Pi Na-young (Han Su-ah), a vampire who transfers from Romania and struggles to adjust to the human world, meets Jang Woo-ju (Kim Hyun-jin), a model class president who hopes to attend medical school.
The teaser poster shows Na-young holding a finger to her lips, hinting at her mysterious double life, alongside the words, “A vampire disguised as an ordinary human appears at school.” The first teaser, released alongside the poster, depicts Na-young going to school at her butler’s (Yoo Young-woo) urging and the disruption to Woo-ju’s daily life after their homeroom teacher (Jung Seung-je) asks him to guide her. Another vampire, Yu-hyeol (Lee Seung-gyu), warns her not to get involved with humans, heightening the tension.
Adding to the anticipation, three stars of the original series—Shim Hye-jin, the original Francesca; Park Seul-gi, who played Sofia; and Park Hee-jin, who played the woman from Anseong—are confirmed for special appearances. The series is expected to combine the original’s offbeat humor and peculiar atmosphere with the fresh excitement of a coming-of-age school drama, offering something for viewers across generations.
Wavve original drama 〈Francesca Next Door〉 will premiere exclusively on Wavve on Friday, November 6.
