A cross-generational reality show about male-female friendships

The team led by Na Young-seok, a trendsetter in South Korean variety TV, is launching a new observational variety show about friendship between men and women. tvN officially announced that its new variety program, ‘Just Friends’, will premiere on the 27th. The series will candidly capture real-life episodes as celebrity friends of the opposite sex travel together.

The biggest draw is the cast’s combined 85 years of friendship. The wide-ranging, cross-generational lineup adds credibility and gravitas to the program. First, actors Lee Seo-jin and Han Ji-min, widely known as close friends of 20 years, are joining the show, promising their trademark easygoing rapport. Also appearing are industry veterans Kim Yong-gun and Park Jung-soo, who have shared an extraordinary 55 years together. The show will spotlight their profound life stories and the meaning of true friendship shaped by decades of experience.

The 10-year chemistry between members of leading K-pop groups is also expected to draw viewers’ attention. Jooheon of MONSTA X and Jeongyeon of TWICE are set to represent the unpretentious, genuine relationships of young people in their 20s beyond the glitz of the stage. Viewers are eager to see what dynamics emerge when three pairs of friends from different generations and backgrounds find themselves traveling together.

The show will be co-directed by producer Na Young-seok and producer Shin Geon-jun, both of production company Egg Is Coming, whose exceptional planning has earned recognition. Known for their singular ability to draw out natural humor and relatable moments from everyday life, the team is expected to avoid artificial staging and focus on the genuine relationships between the participants in ‘Just Friends’.
