The unapproachable NO.1 mystery animation 'Detective Conan' has confirmed its release in Korea on September 19 with 'Detective Conan: The Truth of 17 Years Ago' and unveiled the main poster. 'Detective Conan: The Truth of 17 Years Ago' revolves around the legendary long-term article from 17 years ago, which remains an unsolved case, the murder of an American tycoon, and the black organization’s second-in-command 'Rum', along with Inspector Kuroda from the police department, and Conan's unfolding mystery in this animated detective story.
Since its serialization began in 1994, 'Detective Conan' has surpassed a cumulative publication of 270 million copies of the original manga, and not only has it been a popular TV animation with over 1,000 episodes, but the annual theatrical series has also received worldwide love alongside the original manga. The recently released 'Detective Conan: The Phantom of the Eye' on July 16 attracted 720,000 domestic viewers (as of 2025/08/19), demonstrating its long-running success and popularity.
The main poster released ahead of the premiere features a contemplative Detective Conan alongside the investigation from 17 years ago, Inspector Kuroda Hyōe, and the second-in-command Rum of the black organization, capturing attention. Additionally, a mysterious figure holding a firearm adds a dramatic visual that piques curiosity. The poster also hints at the appearance of the black organization’s sharpshooter duo, Chianti and Korn, raising expectations for the fierce three-way battle between the black organization, the police, and Conan. The composition of the poster reminiscent of a chessboard, along with the knight piece and a dying message made from a clock, sets the stage for an unprecedented mystery, while another piece, 'Shogi Kaku', raises questions about the truth of the black organization related to the central figure of the 17-year-old case, 'Haneda Koji'. Meanwhile, the tagline utilizing the 'photographic memory' ability, which means being able to remember experiences as if taking a photo, amplifies the tension regarding how Rum's 'photographic memory' ability will steer this case into a new direction.
Receiving explosive interest as it confirms its first domestic theatrical release, 'Detective Conan: The Truth of 17 Years Ago' will be exclusively released in CGV on September 19 (Friday).
