SLL, Expanding Fandom Across Genres from ‘Crime Scene’ to ‘The Outlaws’

Proving success both online and offline in OTT and theaters, building a domestic and international fandom base

Global IP powerhouse SLL (www.sll.co.kr) is securing fandom through various content such as entertainment and films, expanding its global competitiveness. Rather than settling for one-time hits, it is establishing a long-term growth system by expanding into seasons or franchises and connecting commerce based on this to increase touchpoints with viewers.

In entertainment, the ‘Crime Scene Series’ from SLL's label Studio Slam is representative. The original role-playing mystery entertainment show ‘Crime Scene’ gained attention in Korea with the return of ‘Crime Scene Returns’ after 7 years. Following this, ‘Crime Scene Zero’, which will be globally released on Netflix on September 23, is preparing to secure overseas fandom beyond Korea. Thus, the ‘Crime Scene Series’ is establishing itself as an expandable seasonal IP with ‘Returns’ and ‘Zero’.

Another entertainment show from Studio Slam, ‘Black and White Chef: Cooking Class War Season 1’, set a new record by ranking first for three consecutive weeks in Netflix's global TOP10 non-English TV category, the first in Korean entertainment history. Building on the success of the previous season, Season 2 is set to further strengthen global fandom in the second half of this year. Additionally, the first large-scale survival entertainment show in K-beauty, ‘Just Makeup’, is scheduled to be released on Coupang Play and Amazon Prime Video on October 3 and 10, respectively, garnering expectations from domestic and international K-beauty fans.

In the film sector, the ‘The Outlaws’ series has established itself as a long-term franchise. The series has surpassed 40 million cumulative viewers, and particularly, ‘The Outlaws 4’ broke 11.13 million viewers in just 36 days after its release, setting the fastest box office speed for the series. ‘The Outlaws’ is a successful case of a Korean action film franchise, and plans to continue releasing seasons to enhance fandom expansion.

In the music sector, the idol group ‘Close Your Eyes’ is gaining attention. After debuting, they entered the top ranks of music charts, and their second mini-album 'Snowy Summer', released on July 9, recorded over 200,000 sales on the day of release, achieving the remarkable feat of winning three music show awards. They are also diversifying touchpoints with fandom through domestic and international fan signings, pop-up stores, and merchandise, and plan to establish a sustainable growth foundation based on active music activities in the future.

An SLL representative stated, “SLL is developing various content encompassing entertainment, drama, film, and music to convert viewers into fans,” and added, “With the expansion of domestic and international fandom, we will diversify revenue while creating a long-term IP lifecycle.”
