'Sing Again 4' Returns with a New Season After 2 Years! Starting with the Most Participants Ever

The music competition program 'Sing Again', which provides opportunities for unknown singers to make a comeback, has returned for Season 4 after a break of about 2 years. On the 14th, JTBC revealed the cast and features of the new season through an online production presentation.

Chief Producer Yoon Hyun-joon explained the background of Season 4's production at the presentation, stating, "It is not easy for the program to reach its fourth season. It was possible because there are still many unknown singers who wish for this stage."

The MC is Lee Seung-gi, who has been with the show from Seasons 1 to 3. The judging panel consists of existing members Lim Jae-bum, Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young, Kim Ina, Kyuhyun, Lee Haeri, Code Kunst, and new member Taeyeon, forming an 8-member team.

The judges evaluated that the skills of this season's participants have significantly improved compared to previous seasons. The number of participants is also reported to be the highest in the history of the show, according to the production team.

Baek Ji-young stated, "As the episodes progress, the participants are getting closer to being complete. Overall, their skills have improved a lot, so we had a hard time during this preliminary round." Code Kunst added, "There were many participants who brought more genre diversity and interpretations compared to Season 3."

Lee Seung-gi expressed his expectations by likening the level of participants to "almost discovering a treasure ship." He said, "People are asking, 'Could there be more gem-like individuals?' and this time, we were surprised as well."

In line with the subtitle 'Unknown Singer Competition', this season features participants from various age groups who have not yet realized their dreams of becoming popular singers. It includes not only younger participants but also many middle-aged participants.

Lyricist Kim Ina explained, "The most special element that makes 'Sing Again' unique is that there is no age limit for participants," adding, "Middle-aged participants who once gave up on their dreams are coming back to the stage with those dreams." He pointed out, "Before singing, their faces may look a bit stiff, but once the song ends, they turn into the faces of boys and girls."

Lim Jae-bum expressed his concerns about balancing personal activities while revealing his reasons for participating. He said, "I was preparing for my 40th anniversary concert and 8th album, so I thought it might be a bit overwhelming to do 'Sing Again 4'," but added, "I felt that my heart, which had become a bit dull towards music, could gain energy by listening to the passionate songs of the participants, and I wanted to give them courage, so I decided to participate."

Newly joined Taeyeon hinted at her cool judging style. She stated, "Whenever I sit in the judge's seat, I become 'Capital T' (thinking type) and tried to give evaluations that would be most helpful to the participants."

'Sing Again 4' will begin its first broadcast on the 14th at 10:30 PM.
