A man who approached pop star Ariana Grande (32) and made physical contact without permission at a Hollywood movie promotion event in Singapore has been sentenced to prison by a local court.
According to multiple foreign media outlets including ABC News and The New York Times (NYT), the Singapore court sentenced Johnson Wen (26), an Australian, to 9 days in prison for disturbing public order during the event attended by Grande on the 13th.
A widely circulated video on social media shows a scene from the movie 'Wicked: For Good' promotion event in Singapore, where Grande and Cynthia Erivo were greeting fans when a man suddenly broke through the security and rushed towards them.
The man ran up to Grande, wrapped his arms around her neck, and jumped up and down. Grande was startled by the unexpected situation and stumbled, while her co-star Erivo quickly tried to pull him away, and security personnel swiftly intervened to subdue the man.
The Singapore judge presiding over the case pointed out that Wen had repeatedly engaged in similar behavior to attract public attention.
The judge warned, "It seems you have not faced any punishment for your past actions, and you probably thought the same would happen this time. But you are wrong, and you must remember that there are always consequences for your actions."

Wen is known to have previously disrupted events attended by celebrities such as pop stars Katy Perry and The Weeknd in Australia, posting these actions on social media to gain attention.
According to local media CNA, Wen appeared in court via video link and maintained a smile throughout the trial.
This incident has once again highlighted the safety of celebrities and security issues at public events. In particular, the increase in reckless attempts to approach for social media attention has raised the need for enhanced security measures by event organizers.
Ariana Grande has not made any special comments following the incident and is reported to be continuing her scheduled movie promotion activities.
