Suspected of murdering Jonathan Joss, the voice actor from the popular animated series 'King of the Hill', Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez was indicted for murder by a Texas grand jury on November 18 (local time).

Alvarez is accused of shooting and killing Joss in San Antonio, Texas, on June 1.

"Claims of Shooting Accompanied by Homophobic Slurs"

At the time of the incident, Joss's husband, Tristan Coeurn de Gonzales, made shocking claims. He alleged that Alvarez shouted "violent homophobic slurs" before firing the gun.

Joss and Gonzales were unarmed at the time of the incident, and Gonzales reported that Joss pushed him away from the bullet, saving his own life, which has caused great sorrow.

The San Antonio police initially announced that there was no evidence related to sexual orientation, but Police Chief William McManus later retracted this statement, calling it "premature" and stated that they are still investigating whether sexual orientation influenced the motive for the crime. According to Texas law, hate crimes are applied as aggravating factors upon conviction, rather than as separate charges.

Voice of John Redcorn from 'King of the Hill'

The late Jonathan Joss voiced the witty Native American character John Redcorn in the popular animated series 'King of the Hill', which aired from 1997 to 2008, and was beloved by viewers for 13 seasons. He also appeared as Chief Ken Hotate in the NBC drama 'Parks and Recreation'.

Meanwhile, Alvarez's attorney claimed that the incident in June was self-defense and unrelated to sexual orientation. Alvarez is currently released on $200,000 bail.
