Disney's animated film 〈Zootopia 2〉 has recorded explosive box office success from its opening day in South Korea, rising to the top of the box office.
According to the integrated ticket sales network on the 27th, 〈Zootopia 2〉 attracted over 309,000 viewers on its opening day, achieving a revenue share of 72.0%. This figure is about nine times higher compared to the first day's audience of over 35,000 for the previous film 〈Zootopia〉 (2016), which was released in 2016.
In particular, this performance is the second highest record among all Disney animations, following the first day's audience of over 606,000 for 〈Frozen 2〉, which was released in 2019. As a sequel released after nine years, it is analyzed that fans' expectations have directly translated into box office success.
〈Zootopia 2〉 features the fox Nick Wilde, who has become a police officer, and the rabbit officer Judy Hopps reuniting for new adventures. The CGV Egg Index, which reflects actual viewer ratings, recorded 98%, indicating high satisfaction.
Viewers positively evaluated the diverse animal characters, the chemistry between Judy and Nick, and the messages conveyed by the work. However, some expressed that the story is somewhat disappointing compared to the previous film.
The box office outlook for the film is also bright. As of 10 AM on the 27th, the reservation rate is 64.3%, with over 345,000 already having made reservations to watch it.
