YouTube has put the brakes on Spotify's 'Wrapped' dominance. Going beyond simple viewing time, it introduces a new year-end summary feature that analyzes your 'viewing personality' using AI.
On the 2nd (local time), YouTube officially unveiled 'Recap 2025', which analyzes user viewing records for the year 2025. It will be rolled out sequentially to all users worldwide starting from North America this week.
◆ "Simple Data? NO, We Look at Personality"
The core of this year's recap is the 'AI-Based Personality Type System'. YouTube deeply analyzes users' viewing patterns and categorizes them into more than 11 unique categories such as ▲Adventurer ▲Builder ▲Creative Soul ▲Philosopher ▲Dreamer.
YouTube stated, "The most common types were the 'Sunshiner' chasing positive energy and the curious 'Wonder Seeker', while the 'Philosopher' or 'Dreamer' exploring in-depth content appeared as rare types." This result was completed after nine rounds of user feedback and over 50 concept tests.
◆ MrBeast & The Year of K-Content
In the '2025 Trend List' announced by YouTube, MrBeast still holds the throne as the 'Most Watched Creator'.
Notably, the rise of K-content is remarkable. Netflix original series 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' and content related to 'Squid Game' made it to the top 10 trending topics, proving the strong impact of Korean content on YouTube.
◆ How to Check?
You can check 'Recap 2025' in the 'My Account' tab of the YouTube mobile app or on the dedicated website (youtube.com/recap). Through a highlight reel consisting of up to 12 cards, you can see your top channels and changes in interests at a glance, and the YouTube Music app provides integrated analysis of music listening preferences.
However, to check the recap, your viewing history must be activated throughout the year, and accounts under 13 years old or periods where viewing history was automatically deleted are excluded from the count.
