
The race for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards has officially begun. While master Paul Thomas Anderson (PTA) makes a glamorous return, Netflix's 'Stranger Things' has suffered a painful snub.
On the 8th (local time), the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) officially announced the list of nominees for the film and TV categories of the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
◆ Film: PTA's Dominance and the Battle of the Masters
The star of the film category was undoubtedly Paul Thomas Anderson. His new work 'One Battle After Another' has been nominated in a remarkable 9 categories, earning the honor of most nominations.
Following him, Joachim Trier's family drama 'Sentimental Value' received nominations in 8 categories, while Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners' garnered 7 nominations, hinting at a fierce three-way battle.
In particular, Chloe Zhao has made history by becoming the fourth woman ever to be nominated for the Golden Globe Best Director award more than once, following Barbra Streisand, Jane Campion, and Kathryn Bigelow.
◆ TV: The Festival of 'The White Lotus' and the Tragedy of 'Stranger Things'
In the TV category, HBO's 'The White Lotus' showcased its strength with nominations in 6 categories. Netflix's hit 'Adolescence' also performed well with nominations in 5 categories.
However, the biggest upset was 'Stranger Things'. This series, which has a global fanbase, faced a shocking snub, being excluded from major category nominations including Best Picture, causing an uproar among fans.
◆ Actors: "This is My Year" Double Nominations
The performances of the actors were also remarkable. Amanda Seyfried, Jacob Elordi, and Jeremy Allen White made headlines by being nominated in 2 categories simultaneously across film and TV.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser and will be broadcast live on January 11, 2026 (Sunday) at 5 PM (PT) on CBS and Paramount+.
