"Max is back. But she is not the Max we knew before. She now sees Vecna not with her physical eyes, but with her mind's eye."
'Stranger Things' season 4 ended with Max Mayfield suffering from full-body fractures, blindness, and a state of brain death, leaving fans around the world in tears. The actress playing Max, Sadie Sink, opened up about this dramatic return and her transformation in acting.
◆ "Acting in an invisible world, the biggest challenge"
Sadie Sink identified 'acting with visual impairment' as the biggest challenge in volume 2. In the series, Max regains consciousness but has permanently damaged vision. She said, "To express the state of being awake but unable to see, I wore specially made lenses and trained to blur my focus," adding, "I had to let go of the habit of looking into my co-actor's eyes to exchange emotions and focus on the voice and flow of air. It was technically the hardest challenge of my acting life," she confessed.

◆ Tearful reunion with Lucas... "It was sadder than the script"
She also mentioned the long-awaited reunion scene with Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). Sink said, "When we filmed the scene where Lucas holds Max's hand and shares the stories that have been left unsaid, even after the cut, Caleb and I hugged each other and cried for a long time," recalling, "The pain and time both characters experienced flashed before us like a movie."
◆ The key to the finale, 'Spy Max'
Max's resurrection is not just a survival report. According to the interview, Max, having once been consumed by Vecna (Henry Creel), becomes the only person who can access Vecna's mental world. Sink hinted at the finale, which will be released on the 31st, saying, "Max's body may be in a hospital bed, but her mind will be in the midst of the fiercest battlefield," adding, "She will play a crucial 'insider' role in finding Vecna's weakness."
The girl from 'Running Up That Hill', Sadie Sink, is drawing viewers' expectations for her final struggle.
