The creator of the comic strip 'Dilbert', Scott Adams, who was loved worldwide for his sharp satire of the absurd realities faced by office workers, has passed away at the age of 68.

According to local foreign media on the 14th (Korean time), Adams passed away on the 13th at his California home surrounded by family. The sad news was shared by his ex-wife, Shelley Miles, during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel 'Real Coffee with Scott Adams'.

◆ Cancer Cells Spread to Bones... "Zero Chance of Recovery"

The cause of death was prostate cancer. Adams publicly revealed in May 2025 that he was in stage 4, with cancer having spread to his bones. In early January of this year, he stated on a podcast, "I received a final diagnosis from a radiation oncologist that the chance of recovery is close to 'zero'," showing his acceptance of his fate.

In his last message left on January 1, he confessed, "I lived an amazing life and gave it my all," indicating that he had no regrets.

◆ From Spokesperson for Office Workers to Conservative Icon

Born in 1957 in New York, Adams earned an MBA from UC Berkeley and worked at Pacific Bell Telephone Company. Based on his work experience, he began the serialization of 'Dilbert' in 1989, which was published in over 2,000 newspapers across 65 countries, elevating him to the ranks of billionaire cartoonists. In 1997, he also won the 'Reuben Award', known as the Oscar of the comic world.

However, his later years were not smooth. He revealed his conservative political stance and became embroiled in controversy in 2023 due to racist remarks, experiencing the pain of being dropped from mainstream media as major newspapers like The Washington Post ceased the serialization of 'Dilbert'.

◆ Mourning from the White House

Following the news of his passing, condolences poured in from the political sphere, especially from the conservative camp. President Donald Trump reminisced, "He was a fantastic person who respected me even when supporting him was not in vogue." Vice President JD Vance also expressed sadness, stating, "We have lost a truly unique figure in America and a great ally."

Once a friend to office workers around the world, Scott Adams found himself at the center of political controversy in his later years. He continued to communicate with the world through YouTube until his last moments, making his voice heard.
