〈The Chronology of Water〉 has drawn attention with its glamorous GV lineup even before its release.
Set to be released on January 28, 〈The Chronology of Water〉 tells the story of Lydia (Imogen Poots), who could finally breathe freely in the water after throwing herself to escape her sorrow, as she embarks on a journey to reclaim her voice through writing. Ahead of its release, 〈The Chronology of Water〉 has unveiled a relay GV lineup featuring various guests from the film and literary worlds who are continuing their own stories.
First, on January 22 (Thursday), following the CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall premiere, the first GV will feature actress and director Son Soo-hyun and Cine21 reporter Nam Seon-woo. Son Soo-hyun has proven her worth as an actress in films such as 〈Office〉, 〈Shepherd〉, and 〈Lucky, Apartment〉, showcasing a spectrum of acting that is not limited to genre or character. Additionally, she has demonstrated her directorial capabilities through films like 〈How to Fix a Fan〉 and 〈Freelancer〉. Like actress Kristen Stewart, who is making her feature debut with 〈The Chronology of Water〉, she will explore the emotions and messages of the film and the perspective of a director during this GV.
On the release date, January 28 (Wednesday), a GV will be held at Art House Momo featuring translator Im Seul-ae, who translated the memoir 〈The Chronology of Water〉 by the original author Lydia Yuknavitch, along with her other work 〈The Edge〉, and journalist Lee Eun-sun. Translator Im Seul-ae studied French literature at Korea University and English-Korean translation at Ewha Womans University Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, and is currently active as a translator. She has translated works including Edna O'Brien's 〈August is the Month of the Devil〉, Willa Cather's 〈Lucy Gayheart〉, Rachel Cusk's 〈Second Place〉, and Oscar Wilde's 〈The Picture of Dorian Gray 1890〉. As a translator who understands the original work deeply, this GV is expected to be a rich discussion about the differences between the original and the film, insights gained during the translation process, and the author's world and language.
Finally, on February 1 (Sunday) at Art Nine, a GV will be held featuring writer Cheon Seon-ran, who has broadened the scope of the SF genre with bestsellers like 〈A Thousand Blues〉, and writer Ha Mi-na, known for 〈To Split Myself Out〉, 〈Crazy, Strange, Arrogant, and Smart Women〉, and 〈Anyway, Diving〉. The two will explore the questions and messages that 〈The Chronology of Water〉 poses to the audience, focusing on the power of narrative and writing in finding one's voice, based on their experiences communicating with the public as women and writers.
