Park Ji-hoon revealed that he decided to star in 〈The King's Warden〉 after hearing Director Jang Hang-jun's words.
Actor Park Ji-hoon will appear as Lee Hong-wi in 〈The King's Warden〉, which is set to be released on February 4. Lee Hong-wi is the tragic king 'Danjong', who ascended to the throne but was deprived of power by the Prince Suyang during the Gyeongyu Jeongnan and was exiled to Yeongwol, Gangwon Province. Park Ji-hoon shared how he came to star in 〈The King's Warden〉 during a round interview held on January 27.
When he was first offered the role, Park Ji-hoon stated that he could not give a definite answer about his participation. He explained, "I tend to have many doubts about my acting," and added, "I wasn't sure if I could portray such deep emotions (of Danjong), and I even felt sorry for playing a young king who experienced such misfortune."
However, what turned around those feelings was the firm persuasion of Director Jang Hang-jun, who directed the film. Park Ji-hoon revealed that during their fourth meeting, Director Jang Hang-jun told him, "You must be Danjong." Hearing that, Park Ji-hoon thought, "That statement itself felt like a movie. I thought it might be okay to trust the director and take on the challenge, so I was able to overcome my pressure and participate."
〈The King's Warden〉 depicts the story of the deposed and exiled Danjong and the village chief Eom Heung-do, who serves him in exile. It is scheduled to be released on February 4.
